NATURE OF JOJOBA PLANT

Jojoba plants or also known as "Simmondsia Chinensis" are woody perennial plant (a plant that lives for longer than 2 years). Jojoba plant's origin is from a several places such as Colorado Desert, Sonoran Desert, Baja California Desert. It can be found in Southern California, Arizona and Baja California state (Mexico).

Jojoba plant doesn't shed its foliage during the seasonal changes. The jojoba plant is dioecious (a plant species which is divided into female and male sexes). Jojoba planted from their seeds and it is usually takes around 3 years to release its flowers.

The gender of Jojoba plants are only able to be determined from their flowers

The female Jojoba plants will produce seed from flowers the male plants pollinate (the process in which plant pollen is transmitted from the anther (male part) to the stigma (female part) of the plant). The pollinated female Jojoba flower turns into a hard capsule, which is consists of more than one developing plant seeds.

Once the growing plant seeds fills up within the capsule, the capsule wall will become more and more thinner till the heat of the sun dries out the capsule then eventually breaks open up, and then the matured seed will drops. In Israel and North American farms, pollination commonly occurs while in February and March. In Peru, Argentina and Australia, pollination occurs during Southern Hemisphere's spring in August and September.
